The maneuvers took place in the same area where four South Koreans were killed in a North Korean artillery attack in 2010. Before the drills started, North Korea said it would retaliate with punishments a “thousand-fold more severe” than the 2010 shelling. South Korean officials, however, said their maneuvers are no business of the North. Eric Sirotkin, co-founder of the Campaign to End the Korean War, believes the South Korean war games are a provocation ahead of US-North Korean talks in Beijing and upcoming elections in South Korea. Extreme parody of dad" border="0" align="left" style="width:220px;height:140px;margin-right:10px;">www.nma.tv When Tommy Jordan posted a YouTube video of him shooting up his daughter Hannah’s laptop with a .45 after she criticized her parents on Facebook, he had no idea it would go viral and spark a worldwide debate about tough-love and parenting. Tommy Jordan’s YouTube video Facebook Parenting For the troubled teen had more than 22 million hits on Tuesday. It was posted last Wednesday and had already racked up 2 million views by Friday. In the video, Tommy Jordan sits in a chair holding a cigarette and a printout of his daughter’s Facebook message with a gun holstered by his hip. “Hannah, you were grounded for three months for doing something similar to this and I would’ve thought that with a father in IT for a living, you would have better sense than to do it again,” he says. Tommy Jordan then reads his daughter’s letter: “To my parents: I’m not your damn slave. It’s not my responsibility to clean up your sh*t,” she writes. Hannah goes on to say she should be paid for doing household chores. After finishing the letter, Tommy Jordan details Hannah’s modest list of household chores and calls her lazy and disrespectful. “It’s about to get a whole lot harder today,” he says. “I’m gonna post this on your Facebook wall, so all those kids that thought it was cool for how rebellious you were can see what happens.” He then pumps eight hollow-point rounds into her laptop. Is Tommy Jordan a bad parent? Should he have posted Facebook Parenting: For the troubled teen?
The Sun on Sunday is the successor to the News of the World, which was closed in disgrace in July last year following revelations that its reporters had hacked the mobile phone accounts of hundreds of famous people. The announcement came after Murdoch flew in to London to mediate in what commentators have called a “civil war” within News Corp following the arrest of 10 Sun journalists. They were arrested after News International Management and Standards Committee handed evidence of illegal payments made by reporters to police to the authorities. Murdoch moved quickly to reassure Sun staff before announcing the expedited launch, a move many believe is designed to deflect attention from News Corp’s continuing legal woes.
Writing on a company blog on Monday, Dean Hachamovitch, Microsoft corporate vice president in charge of the software maker’s Internet Explorer web browser, claimed Google exploited a loophole in the Platform for Privacy Preferences, or P3P. It’s a protocol used by Internet Explorer that asks a website for its privacy policy, which is provided in a coded form understood by the web browser. Sites that have a policy of tracking visitors, done by way of small files called “cookies” installed on users’ computers, are blocked from doing so. In order to fool the check, Google sites provide Internet Explorer with a hyperlink to a Google support page that explains its tracking measures, which is only readable by humans. Google spokesperson Rachel Whetstone fired back, claiming that the P3P protocol, used by Microsoft since 2002, does not accommodate “modern web functionality” such as Google +1 and Facebook “like” buttons, which allow signed-in users to flag things around the web. Whetstone also noted that 11000+ Internet sites are not complying with P3P, citing a 2010 independent report. The dust-up follows similar reports last week that Google circumvented privacy settings on Apple’s web browser, Safari.
