Syria blast strikes at heart of Assad’s rule

Four of President’s Assad inner circle are dead after a bomb exploded at their security meeting in Damascus. Syria’s Defence Minister Daoud Rajha and his Deputy Assef Shawket, who was also Assad’s brother in law were killed, along with Deputy Vice President Hassan Turkmani and Interior Minister, Mohamed Ibrahim al-Shaar.
