Thalidomide victims say apology not enough

It took half a century, but the makers of a drug which caused birth defects around the world are saying that they are sorry. Thalidomide was prescribed to pregnant women to help with morning sickness, but it caused thousands of babies to be born with deformities. Al Jazeera’s Nick Spicer reports from Berlin.

Funeral preparations under way for Ethiopia’s PM

Firefighters contain Spain wildfires

Firefighters in southern Spain have contained a huge forest fire that threatened a number of tourist resorts. One person died in the fire, which started near Coin, west of Malaga, early on Thursday, and spread to the outskirts of the resort of Marbella. Al Jazeera’s Dominic Kane reports.

Convicted axe murderer welcomed in Azerbaijan

A huge crowd has welcomed home a convicted axe murderer to the Azerbaijan capital of Baku.
